Hearing in diplomatic passport case deferred; arrest warrants for ex-AJK PM still in place

ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (APP): The District & Sessions Court on Monday postponed the proceedings in the diplomatic passport case against former Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas as Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal was unavailable.
The court also kept his arrest warrants active and fixed 8 December as the next date of hearing.
According to details, a scheduled hearing in the diplomatic passport case against former Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was put off on Monday due to the non.availability of Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal. The court confirmed that no progress could be made in the case because the magistrate was not available to preside over the proceedings.
During the brief appearance, court officials informed the parties that the magistrate was unavailable for the day. As a result, the hearing concluded without any action. The court also maintained the arrest warrants earlier issued for Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, stating that the order remains unchanged until the accused appears before the court.
The case, filed by the Federal Investigation Agency, concerns the alleged use of a diplomatic passport by the former AJK prime minister. According to the FIA, Ilyas is required to appear before the trial court as part of the legal process. His attendance has been declared necessary for the continuation of proceedings, and the court has repeatedly directed him to comply with the requirement.
The FIA had earlier registered the case after reviewing the circumstances under which the diplomatic passport was used. The investigation body maintains that the matter must be addressed in court, and the accused must be present to respond to the charges.
The next hearing on 8 December will determine whether the accused appears before the court and whether the proceedings can move forward.
