ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP):Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Syed Mustafa Kamal met a delegation led by Jens Ulrik Als, Global Sales Director of AJ Vaccines, to discuss potential cooperation in local vaccine production and manufacturing in Pakistan.
During the meeting, the minister briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s population of approximately 260 million, the challenges facing the healthcare sector and the country’s vaccine requirements.
He said the National Immunization Programme provides children with 13 types of vaccines to protect them against various preventable diseases.
The meeting also discussed opportunities to enhance local manufacturing capacity, reduce reliance on imported vaccines and promote self-sufficiency in vaccine production.
Both sides exchanged views on potential collaboration to strengthen Pakistan’s domestic vaccine manufacturing capabilities and support the country’s immunisation needs.
The engagement reflects efforts to explore international partnerships and technology-based cooperation to strengthen local pharmaceutical production and improve the sustainability of vaccine supplies in Pakistan.
