Govt’s current budget addressing country’s economic challenges: Shahida Rehmani

ISLAMABAD, Jun 10 (APP):Member of the National Assembly and Secretary of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, Dr Shahida Rehmani has lauded the government’s latest budget for effectively addressing country’s economic challenges.
Reflecting on the nation’s precarious financial situation in 2023, when it teetered on the brink of default, she commended the government’s efforts in steering the country towards stability.
She highlighted the substantial relief provided to the public through increased salaries and reduced taxes. Additionally, Dr Rehmani noted the budget’s initiatives aimed at promoting agricultural development, underscoring the government’s commitment to revitalizing this vital sector.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Shehla Raza has described the newly announced budget as balanced and “people-friendly.”
Raza said the government is committed to strengthening the agricultural backbone of the country. “This budget is designed with the people’s needs in mind.
She stressed the need to promote agricultural universities and enhance agricultural research to improve productivity and innovation in the sector. “Since we are an agrarian economy, our economic development is directly tied to the progress of agriculture,” she added.
Raza underscored that only by prioritizing the promotion of agriculture can Pakistan move towards economic stability and growth.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) senior leader Farooq Sattar said it was a significant move benefiting the salaried class, the latest budget has reduced income tax rates and raised the income ceiling for tax exemptions.
