Govt,making efforts for polio eradication : Minister

ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP): Minister for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarer said that the government’s efforts for eradication of polio from Khyber Pakhtunkhaw especially in Fata areas are praiseworthy and hoped for polio free Pakistan .
While talking to PTV news Saturday on ‘World Polio eradication day’ she said ,uptill now 84 percent of polio cases have been cured and its number has reduced from 300 to 38 polio patients in these areas.
She said according to their accessibility, polio effected children were being provided polio drops since two and a half years added that unfortunately the polio drops movement was stopped due to the impact of terrorism there.
She said movement for the complete eradication of polio was started 21 years ago and in 1994 its vaccination was started which was very helpful and in 2005 as a result the number of polio children was reduced to 28 .
She hoped that our country would soon be a polio free country due to army’s operation in FATA and North Waziristan added that the movement for polio eradication is taking its place successfully and the ratio of polio would soon be reduced to nil.
