Govt unveils Rs 4.223 trillion national development budget

ISLAMABAD, Jun 10 (APP):Pursuing an approach of balanced development across the country, the Federal Government on Tuesday unveiled a Rs 4.223 trillion national development budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, including the Federal Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) of Rs1,000 billion, Provincial Annual Development Plan of Rs 2.869 trillion and SOEs investment of Rs354.817 billion.
The major chunk of PSDP 2025-26 was earmarked on infrastructure development projects of energy, railway, motorways-highways, aviation and ports, besides equal importance given to the social sector, particularly in higher education, health, governance and climate changes.
Meanwhile, out of a total Rs1 trillion federal PSDP, the government allocated Rs 682.792 billion for federal ministries, Rs 317.207 billion for corporations, including National Highways Authority (Rs 226.981 billion) and Power Division-NTDC/ PEPCO (Rs 90.225 billion).
The government earmarked Rs 133.424 billion for the Water Resource Division, Rs 1.105 billion for the Board of Investment, Rs 70.388 billion for the Cabinet Division, Rs 2.783 billion for Climate Change Division and Environmental Coordination Division, Rs50 million for Commerce Division, Rs149.150 million for Communication Division (other than NHA), Rs 11.553 billion for Defence Division, and Rs 1.786 billion for Defence Production Division.
Likewise, Rs 495 million was allocated for Establishment Division, Rs 18.580 billion for Federal Education and Professional Training Division, Rs 851 million for Finance Division, Rs 39.488 billion for Higher Education Commission, Rs 15.005 billion for Housing and Works Division, Rs23 million for Human Rights Division, Rs 1.904 billion for Industries and Production Division, Rs6.026 billion for Information and Broadcasting Division and Rs 16.227 billion for Information Technology and Telecom Division.
Similarly, an amount of Rs 1.179 billion was earmarked for Inter-provincial Coordination Division, Rs 12.908  billion for Interior Division, Rs 1.912  billion for Law and Justice Division, Rs 3.465 billion for Maritime Affairs Division,  Rs 4.253 billion for National Food Security and Research Division, Rs14.343 billion for National Health Services Regulations and Coordination Division, Rs 1.676 billion for National Culture and Literary Heritage Division, and Rs 761 million for Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission.
The government also allocated Rs 718 million for Petroleum Division, Rs 2.095 billion for Planning, Development and Reform Division, Rs 22.415  billion for Railways Division, Rs 650 million for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Division, Rs 7.150 billion for Revenue Division, Rs 4.792  billion for Science and Technological Research Division, and Rs 5.418 billion for SUPPARCO.
The government has also allocated an amount of Rs503 million for the Special Investment Facilitation Council Division in order to promote investment in the country, where as Rs 12.908 billion for the Interior Division.
