Govt to set up model police station in federal capital: Baligh

ISLAMABAD, Jul 25 (APP): Minister of State for Interior
Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman on Monday said that the government will set up model police station in the federal capital having all state-of-the-art facilities to serve citizens.

He was speaking in the Senate on a motion moved by Senator Chaudhary Tanveer Khan to discuss the need for provision of adequate salary, fringe benefits and other facilities to the Islamabad police personnel.

He said that the model police station will have separate
building and modern equipment. He added the government was particularly focusing on training of Islamabad police.

He said that despite limited resources, the government was
providing adequate allowances and salary to Islamabad police. He added their salary was parallel to motorway police.

The minister assured that the capacity of Islamabad police
will be increased to control crime rates and improving service
delivery system.

Senator Chaudhry Tanvir Khan said that police has an important role in maintaining law and order and the police officials and men were also playing important role in fight against terrorism.

He said that despite hectic duties and responsibilities their
salary and allowances were very low and it was impossible for them to live with this meager amount.

He said that there was also need to further ensure equipping
Islamabad police to control crime rates.

Senators Mohammad Azam Khan Swati, William, Jehanzib Jamal Din, Saud Majeed, Nehal Hashmi, Babar Awan, Tanvir Ul Haq Thanvi, M Hamza and Salahudin Tirmazi also spoke on the motion.
