Pakistan spearheading global efforts to stem against climate change

ISLAMABAD, Oct 4 (APP):Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government will pursue zero tolerance policy against timber mafia and no one will be allowed to cut even a single tree from Islamabad capital territory in future.

Advisor to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Khan said in a statement that Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planted 4160 trees so far, adding that Ministry of Climate Change would continue close monitoring of the plantation sites till completion of commitment of 2.5 million trees in federal capital. He said that the civic body is bound to submit its quarterly report to the ministry.

He said that the Ministry of Climate Change is devising comprehensive, short, medium and long-term plan for rescuing capital city environment from degradation and necessary instructions have been passed to the Pakistan Environmental protection Agency (Pak-EPA) and other concerned departments of the ministry to prepare working papers in this regard.

He said that provision of clean environment to the people is not only a responsibility but also a religious obligation and we are taking up these issues with relevant ministries.
