Govt taking all steps to strengthen democracy: Dar

ISLAMABAD, June 22 (APP): Minister for Finance and
Revenue Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday informed the National
Assembly that the government would take every step to strengthen democracy in the country.

Speaking after passage of the Finance bill for year
2016 17 and supplementary grants for year 2015 16, he said that the government accommodated maximum suggestions of the Senate and inputs of the lawmakers.

He said the road map of economic prosperity presented by
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in June 2013 in this august
house would continue and added that all targets to achieve development and prosperity of the country could be achieved with collective wisdom and unity.

He said the Prime Minister for the first time in history of Pakistan approved the budget through video link from London and guided at every moment specially in preparation of budget.

He said the GDP growth rate would be further expedited and
journey of progress would continue.

The Minister said that maximum recommendations of the Senators were accommodated besides MNA from both sides of the divide also gave valuable suggestion, which were incorporated in finance bill through amendments,

The minister also thanked leader of the opposition Syed
Khursheed Shah and Parliamentary leaders for their cooperation. He also thanked Speaker for conducting smooth proceedings of the
budget session.

Ishaq Dar also thanked finance Ministry, FBR and
other relevant departments in preparation of budget.

He also announced honorarium equal to three basic salaries for
those who performed their duties in parliament house during budget session including PTV, APP, PBC, CDA, Post Office, PIA, etc
