Govt taking action on Altaf Hussain’s statement: Shahid Khaqan

ISLAMABAD Aug 31 (APP): Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday said the government was taking action against Altaf Hussain on provocative speech against Pakistan.

Speaking in a private news channel programme, he said, the
British government had mentioned to some more evidence and the authorities concerned were working on that issue.

Answering a question, he said, it was a political issue but
as far as he understood it was also an intra party issue and the party had announced dissociation with Altaf Hussain.

“Altaf Hussain is a British national and has issued
statement from the United Kingdom. Since article six is applicable to a British national, we have written the government concerned for an action,” he stated.

He said, it was a unique case and there was no such
precedent in the past. “Therefore, the government is taking an appropriate action keeping in view its legal obligations.”
