Govt, people observe Youm-e-Istehsal, reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Kashmiri people

ISLAMABAD, Aug 5 (APP): The Government and the people of Pakistan on Wednesday observed the seventh anniversary of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people and its steadfast support for their inalienable right to self-determination.

In their messages marking Youm-e-Istehsal, the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister reiterated Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic and moral support for the just cause of the Kashmiri people. They emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, according to a press release issued by the Foreign Office.

The leadership reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue advocating the Kashmir cause at all international forums and underscored that India’s unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 cannot alter the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister addressed a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General, highlighting the latest developments in IIOJK and urging renewed efforts towards the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions to enable the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination.

A solidarity walk, led by the Foreign Secretary, was held along Constitution Avenue in Islamabad, with the participation of officers and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad, together with the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora, also held commemorative events to raise international awareness of the situation in IIOJK and reaffirm support for the Kashmiri people’s just cause.
