KARACHI, Dec 10 (APP):Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said since wealth creation was not possible without industrialization in the country, which was mandatory for repayment of debts, the incumbent government incentivized this sector.

Addressing as a chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Engro Polymer & Chemicals PVC-III at the Governor House, he said the government primarily focused on the ease of doing business in the country.

PM Imran Khan said with the passage of time, the country’s population had also increased resulting in the increased demand of resources.

Due to increasing population, the country was compelled to import those items which were never imported before, he added.

He said the present government, keeping in view this scenario, focused on increasing the country’s agriculture productivity.

The prime minister expressed his gratitude that after a long period of time the country had witnessed tremendous performance in the agricultural sector this year.

China’s assistance was being sought under the second phase of CPEC for the growth of country’s agriculture sector, he added.

Imran Khan recalled that in 60s, Pakistan was progressing rapidly. Unfortunately, the country’s industrial sector had been neglected during previous tenures, he added.

He said if the exports had been incentivized in past like in tenure of the present government, the country would not have faced economic crisis.

The country’s exports had witnessed tremendous and historical growth during the tenure of incumbent government, he added.

The prime minister said the government had also been working on reducing the imports with paying attention to import substitution in the country.

Imran Khan regretted that as the country’s economy start growing, the pressure developed on the current account thus forcing the government to approach the IMF.

On the occasion, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh, Members of Provincial Assembly, prominent businessmen and senior officers of Engro attended the ceremony.
