Govt gives Ramzan package for public relief: Shehbaz

LAHORE, June 5 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) government has given special Ramzan package of billions of rupees for providing relief to people this year in Ramzan-ul-Mubarak like previous years.

Issuing special directions to Provincial Cabinet Committee on Price Control regarding implementation of Ramzan package from London, he said that departments’ concerned would have to work in a coordinated manner for benefitting people from exemplary Ramzan package and added duties had been assigned to the ministers, advisors, parliamentary secretaries and special assistants for monitoring of Ramzan bazaars and they would monitor implementation of Ramzan package.

The Chief Minister said that provision of relief and service to the people was our mission and for this purpose, Ramzan package of billions of rupees had been given for providing flour, ghee, rice, pulses, vegetables and other essential items to the people at concessionary rates in Ramzan. He said it was our joint responsibility that fruits of Ramzan package should reach the masses.

Shehbaz Sharif said that elected representatives and administration would have to play their active role for providing daily use items to people at affordable rates during this holy month.

He directed that Price Control Committees should discharge their responsibilities in an efficient manner for maintaining the quality of edible items at fixed rates and spare no effort in ensuring the fruits of Ramzan package to the masses.

He said resources of billions of rupees had been given for providing quality daily use items to the people at cheaper rates during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.

He said more than 300 Ramzan bazaars had been set up throughout the province.

He said that 10kg flour bag will be available for Rs.290 in Ramzan bazaars whereas for Rs.310 in open market.

Similarly, 20 kg flour bag will be made available for Rs.620 in open market.

The Chief Minister said that fruits, dates, vegetables and pulses will be available at concessionary rates at agri fair price shops in Ramzan bazaars.

He directed that the prices of essential items, fruits, vegetables and pulses should be displayed prominently in Ramzan bazaars and open markets.

He said that relief should be ensured to the people at every cost and quality edible items be made available in abundance under Ramzan package.

Shehbaz Sharif said that profiteers and hoarders will not be allowed to exploit the people. He said that indiscriminate action should be continued against hoarders and profiteers. He directed that best facilities should be provided to the consumers in Ramzan bazaars besides arrangements of foolproof security should also be ensured.

He said that Provincial Cabinet Committee on Price Control should monitor prices of daily use items in Ramzan bazaars on daily basis.
He stressed upon provincial ministers, advisors, parliamentary secretaries and special assistants to pay visit to Ramzan bazaars regularly.
