PESHAWAR, Jun 20 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday said that those spreading sectarianism were enemies of Islam, Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah, stressing that unity among Muslims was the need of the hour and urging religious scholars and spiritual leaders to play their role in promoting harmony.
Addressing the “Martyrdom of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) and Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) Conference” as chief guest at the Governor House, he said the teachings of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) and Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) remained a beacon of guidance and success for the Muslim Ummah.
The Governor said that the justice of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) and the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) offered timeless lessons in righteous leadership, courage and steadfastness.
He added that Hazrat Umar’s model of governance was exemplary for rulers across the world, while the message of Karbala inspired people to stand firm against oppression and uphold truth.
Kundi said Pakistan was created in the name of Islam and safeguarding its security and stability was a shared national responsibility.
He praised Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and global security, saying Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the national leadership had enhanced the country’s prestige.
He said anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan elements were backing Fitna Al-Khawarij but would never succeed in their designs against the country.
Referring to regional developments, the Governor appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and diplomacy in the Iran-US dispute.
He also acknowledged the diplomatic role of President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on international forums.
The Governor said Muharram-ul-Haram taught the values of patience, sacrifice, selflessness and brotherhood.
He emphasized that love and respect for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Ahl-e-Bait (RA) and the Companions (RA) guaranteed success in this world and the Jannat.
He lauded the role of religious scholars and spiritual leaders in promoting peace, inter-sect harmony and national unity, adding that the Governor House would continue to serve as a center for peace, tolerance, interfaith and inter-sect harmony, and national cohesion.
The participating scholars also paid tribute to Pakistan’s political and military leadership for their efforts toward national security, global peace and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
