Governor Kundi, SAPM discuss industrial development in KP
ISLAMABAD, Jun 09 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday held a meeting with Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan to discuss industrial development, investment promotion and economic growth in the province.
Pakistan Peoples Party Central Secretary Information Nadeem Afzal Chan and Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Farzand Ali Wazir were also present during the meeting.
The two sides exchanged views on ongoing and proposed industrial projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), creation of employment opportunities and modernization of local industries.
Governor Kundi said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa possessed immense investment potential due to its rich natural resources, mineral reserves, agricultural output and strategic geographical location.
He emphasized the need to accelerate industrial development projects, strengthen special economic zones and improve business facilitation measures to create new employment opportunities for the youth.
He stressed that the early establishment of an industrial zone near the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route in Dera Ismail Khan was essential and would benefit the entire region.
The Governor said promotion of local industries could help ensure prosperity at the grassroots level while contributing to overall economic growth and strengthening the national economy.
During the meeting, it was decided that the minister of state would soon visit Peshawar to meet industrialists at the Governor House and discuss their issues with a view to finding practical solutions.
Haroon Akhtar Khan said the federal government, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision, was taking concrete measures to promote industrial growth and attract investment across the country.
He assured full cooperation from the Ministry of Industries and Production for enhancing industrial activities, supporting SMEs and improving the performance of economic zones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The participants also discussed issues relating to the Rashakai Economic Zone and considered various proposals aimed at enhancing the capacity of economic zones, attracting new investment and increasing exports from the province.
