PESHAWAR, Feb 12 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has recommended a posthumous national civil award for Shaheed Aoun Abbas in recognition of his exceptional bravery and supreme sacrifice during the blast at Imam Bargah Khadijatul Kubra, Tarlai, Islamabad.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Governor expressed deep condolences over the tragic incident in which several people lost their lives.
He paid tribute to the courage of Shaheed Aoun Abbas, son of Ghulam Akbar and a resident of Tehsil and District Chakwal, who confronted the attacker during moments of terror and chaos.
The Governor said that while many sought safety, the brave young man chose to face the terrorist and apprehend him, preventing a far greater tragedy and saving countless innocent lives. He embraced martyrdom in the line of courage and selflessness, he added.
Faisal Karim Kundi strongly recommended that Shaheed Aoun Abbas be conferred a posthumous National Civil Award, such as the Sitara-e-Shujaat or Tamgha-e-Shujaat, saying such recognition would honour his memory with the dignity it deserves and serve as a lasting inspiration for the youth of Pakistan.
He expressed hope that the Prime Minister would treat the recommendation with utmost priority and approve the award at the earliest as a fitting national tribute to the martyr’s unparalleled courage and sacrifice.
