Governor for timely completion of health projects

MULTAN, Nov 7 (APP): Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique
Rajwana said delay in health projects would not be tolerated
and directed officials to complete projects within stipulated
time.
He was chairing a meeting which was participated by
politicians, divisional administration and officers from the health
department here on Saturday.
The governor directed officers concerned to complete the
Children Hospital’s new building by December 31, 2015, Kidney
Centre by January 30, 2016 and Nishtar Modern Burn Unit within
next six months, otherwise, strict action would be taken against
responsible ones for delay.
He also directed them to ensure third party audit of these
projects.
The government will fill vacancies in the health department
on ad-hoc basis after local bodies elections, he said and
added that the government gave top priority to the health
sector.
He also vowed to transform Fatima Jinnah Gynae Hospital
into a modern healthcare.
Earlier, the governor was briefed about Shahbaz Sharif
Hospital by officials.
The officials said 96,212 patients were examined in out
patient door (OPD), 8,279 in emergency ward and 1,041 in
the hospital’s indoor. Similarly, 472 patients underwent surgery
in the hospital.
Similarly, cardiac surgery of 1,800 patients was being
conducted in the Cardiology Institute annually, the
officials said.
The governor was also apprised that the district
headquarters hospital would be completed by 2017.
The governor expressed satisfaction and also urged
them to improve their services more.
Commissioner Asadullah Khan, MPA Rana Mehmoodul Hassan,
DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal, EDO Health Iftikhar Qureshi and MSs of
different hospitals were also present.
