LAHORE, Feb 12 (APP):Legal fraternity, media men and
dignitaries on Monday paid glowing tribute to eminent lawyer,
human rights activist Asma Jahangir.
Talking to APP, Attorney General of Pakistan Ashter Ausaf,
Khursheed Mahmood Kasuri, Bukhtiar Kasuri, Pir Kaleem Khursheed,
Ch. Ahsan Bhoon, Abid Saqi, Azam Nazir Tarar, Hina Jillani,
Ijaz Ahmed Khan, Anwarul Haq Pannu, Ehsan Waine, Ch. Ghulam
Abbass, journalists Salman Ghani, Salman Abid, Farooq Madoodi
highlighted various aspects of life of Asma Jahangir and her
services.
They said that she was ‘voice of voiceless’. She spent her
life for the cause of poor, oppressed and liberal segments of
society.
They said the vacuum created after the death of Asma would
never be fulfilled.
They said that Asma initiated struggle in the era of Ayub
Khan in her very early age.
Asma was defender of human rights and constitution and she
kept on fighting for her objects till last breathe of her life.
They said that she was so broad-minded that she accept and
tolerate people as a close friend who were having different
ideologies from her.
Haider Farooq Madoodi said that his father Syed Abul Aala
Madoodi performed Nikah ceremony of Asma with Tahir Jahangir.
Haider further said that she was one of such a strong women
in Pakistan who bravely fought against religious conservatives
in Pakistan.
Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri said that she was really voice
for voiceless.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that he had never witnessed such
a kind and iron lady in his life.
