Gilani reaffirms Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination

ISLAMABAD, Jul 19 (APP): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Pakistan symbolises the enduring bond between the people of Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir and reflects the Kashmiri people’s steadfast commitment to their internationally recognised right to self-determination.
In his message on the occasion of Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Pakistan, the Senate chairman said the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remained an internationally recognised issue and that its peaceful and lasting resolution, in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, was essential for sustainable peace and stability in South Asia.
He urged the international community to take meaningful notice of the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and support efforts to ensure the realisation of the Kashmiri people’s legitimate rights.
Gilani reaffirmed that Pakistan’s Parliament had consistently stood with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and would continue to raise their voice at national, regional and international parliamentary forums.
He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic and moral support for the just cause of the Kashmiri people, emphasising that their sacrifices for freedom, justice and dignity would never be forgotten.
