Gilani reaffirms commitment to ending child labour

ISLAMABAD, Jun 11 (APP):Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s collective commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and future of every child.
In his message on the occasion of the International Day Against Child Labour, observed annually on June 12, he said child labour remains a serious challenge that deprives millions of children of their childhood, education, health, and opportunities for a better future.
He stressed that no child should be forced into labour at the expense of education, safety, and personal development.
Gilani noted that every child deserves access to a safe environment, quality education, and equal opportunities to grow into an empowered and productive citizen.
He acknowledged that while Pakistan has made important progress in promoting child welfare and protecting vulnerable communities, sustained efforts are still required to fully eliminate child labour.
The Chairman of the Senate further underscored the responsibility of Parliament and lawmakers to ensure that legislation and policies effectively protect children from exploitation and create pathways for education, protection, and opportunity.
“On this important day, let us renew our resolve to work together for a Pakistan where every child is free from exploitation and empowered to realise their full potential. A society that protects its children secures its future,” he said.
