ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP):Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Friday, paid a glowing tribute to the Kashmiri people, their martyrs, and the freedom fighters, stating that this day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices, steadfastness, and unwavering struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.
In his message on the occasion of the 78th Foundation Day of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, he said that the Day is not merely a historic occasion, but also a reaffirmation of the pledge that the long freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people will always be remembered.
Pakistan, he emphasised, will continue to extend its political, moral, and diplomatic support to them at every level.
The Chairman urged the international community to play an effective role in ensuring a just and lasting resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions so that durable peace and stability can be achieved in South Asia.
Gilani said that the grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are a matter of serious concern for the global conscience.
The courage, determination, and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, he added, are living proof that the freedom movement cannot be suppressed through oppression or tyranny. He expressed hope that the day is not far when the dawn of freedom will rise over Occupied Kashmir, and the Kashmiri people will breathe freely with their fundamental rights restored.
The Chairman reaffirmed that the Parliament and the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brethren and will continue to raise their voice at every international forum.
Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the Foundation Day serves as a reminder of the spirit of freedom, struggle, and sacrifice — a message that continues to strengthen the historic, moral, and human bonds between Pakistan and Kashmir.
