ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Friday held a bilateral meeting with NINO TSILOSANI, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, on the sidelines of the International Parliamentary Conference (IPC) in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, and exploring new avenues for partnership between Pakistan and Georgia, said a news release.
During the meeting, Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening friendly relations with Georgia, emphasizing that the two countries share a mutual desire to expand cooperation based on respect, trust, and shared aspirations for peace and development.
The Chairman Senate noted that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Georgia, particularly in the areas of trade, education, culture, and parliamentary engagement, and expressed hope that both sides would continue to work closely to promote people-to-people contact and economic connectivity.
Gilani underscored the need to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy, terming it an effective means of fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between the two nations.
He proposed enhanced interaction between parliamentary friendship groups and standing committees to exchange best practices, strengthen institutional linkages, and develop joint approaches to common regional and global challenges.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani also extended an invitation to the Georgian Speaker to attend the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) being hosted by the Senate of Pakistan in Islamabad from 10–12 November 2025, noting that the event would provide a vital platform for dialogue on peace, development, and inter-parliamentary collaboration.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their resolve to continue working closely to further enhance bilateral cooperation and to support one another at regional and international forums.
