ISLAMABAD, Nov 16 (APP): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Sunday said that tolerance and patience are essential qualities for building peace and stability in any society.
In his message on the International Day for Tolerance, he said that without encouraging tolerant attitudes, social harmony cannot be achieved.
He said that meaningful dialogue and mutual respect are key pillars of democratic traditions, and Parliament is responsibly carrying out its role in promoting national unity, tolerance and social cohesion.
Gilani said all sections of society must stand together against extremism, intolerance and hate speech to ensure lasting peace and stability in the country.
He said fostering tolerance and respect is vital for security, development and prosperity, while intolerance harms social cohesion and weakens national unity.
The Chairman Senate stressed that it is a collective responsibility to promote patience, tolerance and positive thinking among the youth, who will lead the nation in the future. He added that Islam teaches humanity, peace, patience and mutual respect, and therefore, tolerance must remain central to our social values.
Gilani said that by encouraging tolerance and brotherhood, Pakistan can move towards becoming a stronger, more peaceful and more prosperous nation.
