Gilani calls for joint efforts to end hunger, ensure food security

ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 (APP): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday called for collective national and global efforts to eradicate hunger, promote food security, and adopt sustainable agricultural practices.”
In his message on World Food Day, he said that access to adequate and nutritious food is a fundamental human right, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of “Zero Hunger.”
Gilani underscored that strengthening cooperation among the government, private sector, civil society, and international partners is essential to effectively address challenges such as climate change, population growth, and rising food prices.
He urged policymakers and stakeholders to prioritize investment in rural development, agricultural innovation, and equitable food distribution systems.
The Chairman Senate added that ensuring access to safe and nutritious food for every citizen forms the foundation of a healthy, prosperous, and developed Pakistan.
He called upon all segments of society to pledge their commitment to building a world where no one sleeps hungry and every individual lives with dignity and respect.
