KARACHI, Jan 27 (APP):Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Monday inaugurated Gerry Dnata Cargo Complex in Karachi.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony, he said in this era of global connectivity, the Aviation sector had developed as an important contributor towards economic development, a press release said.
Sarwar said, “It has not only increased world trade activity by enabling faster and easier movement of passengers and goods but has also provided jobs to millions of people. It also generates economic growth, creates jobs, and facilitates international trade and tourism.”
He added that the present government introduced much awaited National Aviation Policy in 2019 in order to cater the growing needs of Aviation Sector in Pakistan.
“The present government gives high importance to Aviation Business as an integral contributor in economic development and also as a tool for regional and global integration.
In this regard, in order to achieve full potential and economic benefits of Aviation sector in our economy, the Aviation Division is fully committed to ensure better passenger facilitation and meeting their expectations.”
The salient features of the National Aviation Policy, 2019 in line with the vision of the Prime Minister comprised not only promotion of the tourism sector but also for the importance associated with the growth in the Aviation Sector.
The policy focused on premise of reduced cost of doing business, ease of doing business and promoting tourism in the country and provision of modern and improved facilities at the airports.
