Ghazi Famed Oranges Gala empowers local farming community

ISLAMABAD, Jan 15 (APP):The first Ghazi Famed Oranges Gala, held in Tehsil Ghazi, District Haripur, served as a dynamic platform to empower the local farming community and catalyse sustainable economic growth in the region.
By spotlighting the heritage and excellence of Tehsil Ghazi’s famed oranges, the gala positioned the district as a treasure trove of agricultural brilliance, attracting visitors, stakeholders, and buyers across Pakistan.
The event brought together a remarkable confluence of stakeholders, featuring 48 meticulously curated stalls that epitomized the best of agriculture, innovation, and community enterprise. 16 of these stalls were dedicated to celebrating the rich diversity and exceptional quality of Ghazi’s oranges, cementing their status as a hallmark of the district’s agricultural legacy.
Thirteen stalls from leading private companies showcased cutting-edge agricultural products and technologies, while nine banks provided financial solutions and support tailored to farmers.
Additionally, four government departments highlighted state-of-the-art initiatives aimed at modernizing and empowering the agricultural sector. Six stalls from the University of Haripur offered groundbreaking academic and technical insights into sustainable farming practices.
The event was a celebration and a clarion call to recognize and harness the untapped potential of Ghazi’s fertile lands and its exceptional citrus produce.
Organized by the Department of Agriculture Extension Haripur, with technical collaboration from the University of Haripur, the gala was conceived and executed under the visionary leadership of Deputy Commissioner Haripur, Shauzab Abbas, and funded by the District Administration Haripur.
The event was inaugurated by former provincial minister, Yousaf Ayub Khan and the serving MPA from Ghazi, Adeel Iqbal.
Their presence lent the event an air of prestige and underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering agricultural excellence and community development in the region.
The Family Resort in Ghazi provided an idyllic backdrop for the gala, offering a warm and inviting ambience that seamlessly blended the region’s natural beauty with the energy of the event.
