FUUAST publishes 3rd edition of quarterly newspaper

ISLAMABAD, Jan 02 (APP):The 3rd edition of Deep, the quarterly newspaper of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Islamabad has been published.
Assistant Professor Mass Communication Dr Sikander Zarren is the Chief Editor of the Newspaper. The publication Inaugural ceremony was presided over by HoD Dr Faisal Javaid. Dr Muhammad Irfan, HoD Department of Islamic Studies, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
The event was also attended by Dr Habib Ullah, Assistant Professor, Islamic Studies, faculty members of the Department of Mass Communication Dr Sher Juni and Rashid Sal and Saima Azhar Lecturer IR Department.
Published under the supervision of the Department of Mass Communication, this four-page edition of Deep reflects the academic, creative and practical engagement of students.
The e-paper reports on co-curricular activities and events organized across all three campuses of the University between September and December 2025.
The Interview Page includes insightful conversations conducted by Mass Communication students with professionals from different fields.
This edition features interviews with renowned Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf. Whereas, Dr Muhammad Irfan, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies interview also included.
The Editorial Page showcases columns written by the students of of Mass Comm, while the front page carries selected national and international news stories.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Faisal Javaid appreciated the practical and creative initiatives of the Department of Mass Communication under the supervision of Dr Sikandar Zarren Assistant Professor Mass Comm.
He remarked that the department has truly become a Professional Training Hub for young journalists and paid tribute to the Chief Editor, editors, reporters and the entire student team behind Deep. Chief Editor Dr Sikandar Zarren commended the students for their dedication and creativity.
He emphasized that it is the responsibility of teachers to bring students’ creative potential to the forefront.  He further stated that through Deep E.Paper, students are learning the practical skills and techniques of journalism, and that the newspaper’s pages will serve as a historical record of the university’s academic and co-curricular activities across all three campuses.
The student Editor of this edition, Ehtisham Arshad also shared his views, while Afzal Ahmed served as the publisher. The edition was produced by the 3rd Semester’s students under the supervision of Dr Sikandar Zarren, reflecting the department’s strong commitment to experiential learning and professional training.
