FUUAST, 60 SIFF sign MoU to provide film-making and production training to Mass Communication students
ISLAMABAD, Sep 24 (APP):The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Islamabad and 60 Second International Film Festival (60 SIFF), under Cirrus Pakistan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide film-making and production training to Mass Communication students.
Under one year agreement workshops will be held at the Mass Communication Department, where students will learn short film making, production techniques and basic technical skills. An awareness session on film making will also be arranged.
The MoU was signed by Dr Faisal Javaid, HOD Mass Communication Department and Ayesha Jamal, Festival Director, Cirrus Pakistan. Departmental Coordinator Dr Sikander Zarren, students and representatives of Cirrus Pakistan were also present.
Dr Faisal Javaid said that FUUAST always tries to provide practical learning opportunities to its students. He thanked the 60 Second International Film Festival team for providing students an opportunity to learn filmmaking.
Dr Sikander Zarren said that the department provides practical training in news, digital media, opinion writing, green journalism and other areas of media communication. He said filmmaking and production was an area where students needed more practical exposure. And the new initiative would help them learn these skills on campus.
Ayesha Jamal said that signing an MoU with a major institution like FUUAST was an honour. She said Cirrus Pakistan would be happy to train young students in the field of film art.
Mass Communication students welcomed the initiative and said it would provide them with a useful opportunity to learn short film making and production.
