Fully support all legitimate Saudi measures in response to Houthi aggression: Ashrafi

ISLAMABAD, Sep 8 (APP):Chairman of the Pakistan Ulama Council and Secretary-General of the International Tazeem-e-Harmain Sharifain Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, has strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s targeting of Saudi Arabia’s national resources, critical installations and civilian sites.
He said the Pakistan Ulama Council fully supports all legitimate measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its security, sovereignty, civilian population and national installations. Saudi Arabia is the land of the Two Holy Mosques, and its security is therefore of vital importance to every Muslim.
The people of Pakistan, religious scholars and leaders, and the wider religious community stand in complete solidarity with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi government and the Saudi people.
Ashrafi said Saudi Arabia has consistently pursued efforts to end the war in Yemen, promote political dialogue and achieve lasting peace. However, the Houthi militia’s rejection of the peace process and continued actions that threaten regional security are unacceptable.
He stressed that Saudi Arabia has an established right to defend its territory, citizens, national resources and holy sites, and that its patience and restraint should not be mistaken for weakness.
He called upon the international community, the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Muslim countries to unequivocally condemn Houthi aggression and attacks on civilian installations, and to play an effective role in protecting regional peace and preventing such acts of aggression.
He further said Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations are rooted in faith, brotherhood and mutual trust. The people of Pakistan consider the security of the Holy Land – Haramain Sharifain to be their own security and will continue to stand alongside their Saudi brothers in the face of any aggression.
