ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP):This November, the silver screen will once again become a bridge between cultures as the 4th European Film Festival (EUFF) 2025 returns to Pakistan, bringing with it a celebration of art, diversity, and dialogue.
Hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan and curated by Olomopolo Media, the festival will travel through Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore, inviting audiences to experience the magic of European cinema in all its colour and emotion.
The festival promises a rich showcase of 19 feature films and 10 short films from EU member states, spanning an eclectic range of genres — from heartwarming comedies and moving dramas to thought-provoking documentaries and thrillers. Together, they explore themes that resonate universally: family, love, identity, resilience, friendship, and the human spirit in times of change.
Among the cinematic highlights are Behind the Curtain of High Mountains (Czech Republic), Without Air (Hungary), That They May Face the Rising Sun (Ireland), and The Olive Tree (Spain). Short films such as HABA, White Ribbons, Diamond & Narcissus (Austria), and A Sea of Trash (Portugal) add fresh artistic voices to the lineup.
To engage younger audiences, light-hearted features like Itty Bitty Princess (Finland) and My Dad is a Sausage (Belgium) will offer moments of laughter and warmth, making the festival a family-friendly experience.
The cinematic journey begins in Islamabad on November 7 and 8 at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), where screenings, performances, and artistic installations will transform the venue into a cultural playground. The evenings will close with a social dance and a dramatic reading, blending film with live art, while a Filmmakers Mixer will create space for collaboration and dialogue between creative minds.
The festival then moves to Karachi on November 15 and 16 at the Karachi Film School, where the city’s vibrant artistic energy meets European storytelling. Screenings, readings, and performances will be followed by a lively social dance — a celebration of connection through creativity. The final stop is Lahore on November 22 and 23 at the Alhamra Arts Council, where screenings and immersive installations will fill Hall 3, the Adabi Baithak, and the open courtyard. The festival will conclude on a festive note, with a dramatic reading on the first evening and the signature social dance on the second, embodying Lahore’s enduring love for art and storytelling.
More than a series of film screenings, EUFF 2025 is a full cultural experience. Across all three cities, audiences will step into immersive spaces featuring interactive installations like the “Wall of Fame”, celebrating a century of European cinema through 24 voices, alongside the Auteur Ego, Human Slot Game, and 360° camera. The Reading Nook and Kids’ Corner offer creative spaces for reflection and play, while photobooths and food kiosks add a festive buzz, turning each venue into a lively celebration of culture, imagination, and togetherness.
Free and open to the public, the festival welcomes families, students, artists, diplomats, and film lovers from all walks of life.
Supported by FM91 (Radio Partner), HUM TV, HUM News (Media Partners), and a range of creative collaborators, including the Pakistan Film Society, Digital Development Lab, and Tasweer Ghar, EUFF 2025 is not just a film festival — it is a cultural dialogue in motion.
Curated by Olomopolo Media, a creative platform known for promoting social awareness through art, the festival continues to champion cinema as a tool for empathy, connection, and shared understanding.
As the lights dim and the first reel begins, EUFF 2025 invites Pakistan to rediscover the beauty of storytelling — where every frame is a bridge, and every story a shared heartbeat of humanity.
