Former Ambassador stresses need for stable ties between Pakistan, Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (APP):Former Ambassador and Deputy Chair of the Federal Urdu University (FUU), Jamil Ahmed Khan on Thursday said that Pakistan had supported Afghanistan on many occasions and that a stable Afghanistan was essential for Pakistan’s security.
He said this while addressing faculty members and students during a session at the Federal Urdu University Islamabad on Thursday.
Jamil Ahmed Khan discussed the historical and current relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan and said that tensions between the two countries had existed since Pakistan’s creation.

He said that although Afghanistan had some grievances, Pakistan had made major sacrifices for its neighbor, including the loss of thousands of lives. He added that those responsible for the current setup in Afghanistan should ensure that their territory was not used against Pakistan.
Jamil Ahmed Khan emphasized that the Durand Line issue should be resolved through political dialogue to build mutual trust and cooperation.
 He said that instability in Afghanistan had always been a security concern for Pakistan due to cross-border militancy and the activities of non-state actors.
He called for stronger diplomatic engagement and regional cooperation to ensure peace and prosperity for both nations.
The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Dr. Quwita Khan Shinwari, In-charge Islamabad Campus Dr. Saba Bashir, Head of the Department of International Relations and Department of Mass Communication Dr. Faisal Javed, along with faculty members and students. Students termed the session informative in light of the current regional situation.
