ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on Thursday paid tribute to the Emirati women, lauding their resilience and leadership role in the fields of governance, business, science and culture.

“On Emirati Women’s Day, I salute the resilience of Emirati women breaking barriers and assuming leadership in government, business, science and culture, guided by the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation,” she wrote on her X timeline.

The first lady said that the Emirati women were central to the UAE’s progress and an inspiration to the world.

Emirati Women’s Day is celebrated every year to reflect on progress, renew commitments to gender equality, and celebrate the achievements of women across the United Arab Emirates.

This year, the Day is being observed under the theme ‘Hand in Hand, Celebrating the 50th’ marking five decades since the establishment of the General Women’s Union in 1975.
