Fire broke out in PID, no casualty reported

ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP):Fire erupted at Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP) office situated at Press Information Department (PID) building near Zero Point Islamabad Wednesday, official sources said.
The fire broke out at DEMP and engulfed most part of the building. The staff of Municipal Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and Capital Development Authority (CDA), Fire Brigade, Rescue 1122 and others rushed at the spot and started rescue operation. As many as 7 fire tenders of CDA reached on the spot within minutes.
No loss of human life has so far been reported, confided official sources adding however that some persons are reportedly fainted due to smoke and shifted to hospital. Inmates are being evacuated with the help of snorkel. Talking to APP, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Secretary Shafquat Jalil said inquiry would be conducted to ascertain the real cause of the mishap.
CDA Director Malik Saleem said the staff of CDA and MCI reached on the spot within minutes and busy in extinguishing the fire. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
They said fire may cause damage to DEMP property and also turn important official documents into ashes.
Sources said all staff members have been evacuated from the building, and four fire brigades have reached the scene and engaged themselves in extinguishing the fire.
Meanwhile, thick smoke continues to rise from top floor of the burning building.
