ISLAMABAD, Feb 07 (APP): A fire erupted in the Margalla Hills on Saturday, prompting an emergency response from the city administration and fire services.
Officials said teams were dispatched soon after reports of flames in the forest area near Bara Kahu.
According to a spokesman of ICT administration here, the fire broke out in the Nurpur Range of the Margalla Hills, close to forested land near Bara Kahu. Smoke was seen rising from the area, after which fire fighters were moved to the site. The cause of the fire was not shared.
Fire fighters are carrying out operations to control the blaze. Water tenders and ground teams are working along the affected stretch to stop the spread of fire to nearby sections of the hills. Officials said the operation is ongoing and progress is being monitored.
The district administration said efforts are focused on bringing the fire under control as early as possible. Coordination is in place between fire services and local authorities to manage the situation and reduce risk to surrounding areas.
No reports of injuries or damage to nearby settlements have been received so far.
