ISLAMABAD, Apr 25 (APP):Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday stressed the need to provide patronage to the country’s artists and their art.
“There is no dearth of talent in arts in the country but our artists need proper patronage. We are the custodians of thousands of years old culture. We have been blessed with great writers, musicians, literary personalities and other artists but they do not have the opportunities to flourish.”
She was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of National Music Mela “Sufi Night” here at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA).
She said Pakistan was a peace loving country but if someone tried to impose war or dared to cast an evil eye on it; then it was fully capable of safeguarding its respect, sanctity and identity.
She said that people had given mandate to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf government and it was trying to fulfill its responsibilities to make Pakistan an enlightened, modern and progressive country as envisioned by Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. She said Prime Minister Imran Khan and his team were making all-out effort for the empowerment of youth and for that job opportunities were being created.
Firdous Ashiq Awan lauded the PNCA management for providing opportunities to artists and endeavouring for their uplift. She said that there was a need to promote music, traditional culture and entertainment in the society adding that the efforts of PNCA management in that regard were highly commendable.
