ISLAMABAD, Jun 10 (APP):Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, underscored the significance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan’s economic landscape, stating that they were the backbone of the country’s prosperity.
During the budget speech 2025-26 on Tuesday he stated, “The Prime Minister of Pakistan has given special attention to the promotion of SMEs. In this regard, the Prime Minister has formed a Steering Committee to promote this sector through the coordinated efforts of all government institutions.”
Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb shared that SMEDA has prepared a three-year business plan for 2024–27, whose key components include increasing SME financing, promoting exports, strengthening inter-industry linkages, encouraging women’s participation in business, and protecting against the impacts of climate change.
“In the Exploration and Production (E&P) sector, there has been considerable interest from international companies—particularly Turkish Petroleum—in competitive bids,” he informed.
