ISLAMABAD, Nov 04 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has registered a human smuggling case against 12 persons deported from Libya and initiated legal action against agents allegedly involved in sending them abroad illegally through Dubai and Egypt in an attempt to reach Italy by boat.
According to an FIA official on Wednesday that, the 12 Pakistani nationals were handed over by FIA Immigration at Islamabad International Airport to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi for further legal proceedings.
He said the deportees were identified as Muhammad Adnan Haider, Muhammad Jamal, Nabeel Ahmed, Saqib Shabbir, Muhammad Faizan, Sajjad Mahmood, Muhammad Akhlaq, Muhammad Anees, Roheel Tameer, Rehman Khalid, Saqib Ali and Arif Hussain.
The official said preliminary investigations revealed that different agents had allegedly lured the citizens with promises of overseas employment and arranged their travel from Pakistan to Libya through Dubai and Egypt on visit or Umrah visas.
He said the agents allegedly planned to transport the citizens illegally from Libya to Italy through sea routes using boats.
The official said the agents were also accused of collecting large amounts of money from the citizens in exchange for arranging their illegal journeys abroad.
He said a case had been registered against the 12 deportees, while legal action had also been initiated against the agents allegedly involved in the human smuggling network.
The role of other individuals involved in the case would be determined during further investigation.
