Federal social welfare programmes benefit thousands across Pakistan: Economic Survey 2025-26

Federal social welfare and development institutions provided assistance, training, healthcare and rehabilitation services to thousands of vulnerable citizens during FY2025-26, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26 released by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 11 (APP): Federal social welfare and development institutions provided assistance, training, healthcare and rehabilitation services to thousands of vulnerable citizens during FY2025-26, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26 released by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.
The survey highlighted that the Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) continued to oversee the implementation of disability laws and coordinate efforts among federal institutions.
During the year, the Medical Assessment Board issued 1,617 disability certificates through a one-window facilitation system supported by NADRA, improving access to services for persons with disabilities.
According to the survey, the Women Welfare and Development Centre (WWDC), Islamabad, expanded women’s economic empowerment initiatives by providing vocational and technical training in 28 trades, including diploma courses in fashion designing and information technology. A total of 1,451 women received skills training, while 292 women completed entrepreneurship programmes. The centre also organized 80 awareness sessions on women’s rights and economic empowerment.
The Family Protection and Rehabilitation Centre (FPRC) continued to support women affected by violence by offering shelter, legal assistance, medical care and psychosocial services. During the year, 190 cases were registered, while 574 women and children were provided shelter. More than 11,000 beneficiaries received counselling services, and 64 cases were successfully resolved through reconciliation efforts.
