ISLAMABAD, Jan 03 (APP):The Federal Ombudsman Secretariat has reported significant progress in providing free and swift justice against maladministration in federal government institutions during the year 2025.
According to an official handout issued here Saturday, the Federal Ombudsman decided 261,101 complaints during the year, with 96.8 percent of the decisions fully implemented. The Secretariat stated that 91 percent of the cases were resolved within the legally prescribed period of 60 days.
The Federal Ombudsman also addressed the concerns of 137,152 overseas Pakistanis during the year, ensuring timely relief to citizens residing abroad.
To enhance public access to justice, the Federal Ombudsman organized 166 Open Courts (Khuli Katcheries) and conducted 232 Outreach Complaint Resolution (OCR) programs, enabling thousands of complainants to receive justice closer to their homes. Additionally, under the Informal Resolution of Disputes (IRD) program, 7,356 complaints were amicably resolved.
Overall, the Federal Ombudsman provided relief to more than 400,000 complainants in 2025. The total financial value of decisions issued during the year amounted to Rs. 10.2 billion, all provided without any cost to the complainants.
The press release emphasized that these initiatives are a key part of the Federal Ombudsman’s agenda to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance in federal institutions. The Federal Ombudsman continues to function as a public forum for resolving complaints against government departments.
Separate Complaints Commissioners are working within the institution to specifically handle cases related to overseas Pakistanis and children.
The Secretariat reiterated that any citizen may file a complaint against maladministration in federal government institutions. There is no fee for filing a complaint, and legal representation is not required. All complaints are decided within 60 days.
For assistance, citizens may contact the Federal Ombudsman through Helpline 1055, while complaints related to children can be registered via Helpline 1056. Complaints can also be submitted from home through post, email, mobile application, or online platforms.
