ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP):Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Friday said that the federal government has reserved a 2% employment quota for Persons with Disabilities.
In a written reply to a question in the Senate, the minister said that the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2020, promulgated on September 23, 2020, provides that the prescribed quota shall be maintained on the overall sanctioned strength of an organization, rather than against each Basic Pay Scale (BPS).
He said that in pursuance of the provisions of the Act and the directions of the Prime Minister, the Establishment Division issued uniform instructions to all ministries and divisions on June 18, 2021.
He said that letter has been issued to all ministries and divisions on July 21, 2026 requesting them to furnish updated information regarding vacant posts falling under the prescribed 2% employment quota for Person with Disabilities.
