ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP):The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCCP) has issued notices to teacher Ansar Abbas and former Assistant Advocate General Punjab Ayub Buzdar over allegations that the teacher secured employment on the basis of allegedly fake academic credentials, seeking details from the Punjab Education Department about the action taken against him and verification of his degrees.
A two-member bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi heard an appeal filed by the Punjab Education Department on Thursday.
During the hearing, the Acting Chief Justice asked what action the department had taken against Ansar Abbas after the alleged forgery came to light. He also sought details of the inquiry conducted into the fake degree allegations and asked whether the Punjab government had taken any action against Ayub Buzdar.
The bench further questioned why the teacher’s credentials had not been verified during the four years he remained in service. It also asked why the former Assistant Advocate General had withdrawn an intra-court appeal before the Lahore High Court.
The Additional Advocate General told the court that Ansar Abbas initially secured a teaching job on the basis of an engineering degree. After serving for four years, he resigned and subsequently applied for employment again on the basis of an intermediate certificate.
During departmental scrutiny, alleged forgery in his academic credentials was detected, prompting the Education Department to reject his fresh application, the law officer said.
He added that Ansar Abbas approached the Lahore High Court, which directed the authorities to retain him in service.
The Additional Advocate General further submitted that Ayub Buzdar had withdrawn the intra-court appeal filed before the Lahore High Court without obtaining permission from the competent authority.
The court issued notices to Ansar Abbas and Ayub Buzdar, seeking their responses, and sought further clarification on the matter.
