FCCP reserves verdict in Gujranwala Drug Court Chairman removal case

ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (APP): The Federal Constitutional Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict in an appeal filed by Siraj Ahmad, former Chairman of the Drug Court Gujranwala, challenging his removal from office.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Aamir Farooq heard the case and reserved the decision after completion of arguments from both sides.
During the hearing, Siraj Ahmad contended that the Constitutional Court did not have jurisdiction to hear the matter. His counsel argued that the case had originally been pending before the Supreme Court but was later transferred to the Constitutional Court.
The counsel further submitted that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had resigned on November 13, while the appeal against his client’s removal could have been heard on November 12. He maintained that his client had been denied due legal
process.
During the proceedings, Justice Arshad Hussain Shah observed that Siraj Ahmad was accused of not deciding any cases during his tenure as chairman. The bench heard detailed arguments from both parties before reserving the judgment, which will be announced at a later date.
