ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP):The Federal Constitutional Court has referred the case of a female candidate, Rabeel Bhutto Ji, seeking appointment as a teacher in the Sindh Education Department, to the relevant District Recruitment Committee for consideration.
During the hearing on Wednesday, Justice Rozi Khan observed that the position in question was a contractual appointment and that around fifteen years had passed since the matter arose. He remarked that it was unclear whether the relevant project was still operational.
Counsel for the petitioner, Salahuddin, argued that his client had been denied employment despite qualifying on merit. He informed the court that the contractual teachers’ recruitment project was still ongoing and that his client had been pursuing the case for the past sixteen years in search of justice.
Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi remarked that if the position was contractual and the project was still in place, the candidate’s name should be considered. He noted that teaching posts frequently fall vacant and that the condition of schools in Sindh was evident to all. He further observed that in some places, even teachers who merely draw salaries without performing duties were present.
After hearing the arguments, the court referred the matter of the female teacher’s appointment to the concerned District Recruitment Committee for deliberation.
