Fawad for exploring avenues for cooperation with Romania in film, culture, economy

ISLAMABAD, Oct 8 (APP):Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain here on Monday said that Pakistan considered Romania a key member of European Union (EU) and stressed the need to explore avenues of cooperation with it in the arena of film, culture, media and economy.
In a meeting with Romanian Ambassador Nicolae Goia, he said that Pakistan had huge potential to attract investment and was open to all the EU members for investment in various sectors for the benefit of the people of Romania, Pakistan as well as members of the EU, a press release said.
The information minister said that Pakistan would like Romanian film makers to visit amazing and spectacular sights of the northern areas of Pakistan to observe and shoot the colours of nature and captivating beauty of the area, adding that film making could not only boost tourism, but would also raise soft image of Pakistan abroad.
He said that Balochistan was another area where the government would like Romania and European Union to make investments for its development, as it was not only one of the largest provinces in terms of area, but was also rich in natural resources. He said that Pakistan would also welcome investments in the fields of mining and fisheries.
The minister said that strengthening cultural ties were not only imperative to further build a broad based and long term relationship, but was also vital to forge people-to-people contacts.
He proposed the idea of exchange of cultural troupes, artists and media persons, as it would provide a rare opportunity to understand each others’ values and learn from experiences and best practices.
Nicolae Goia said that Romania was keen to further strengthen bilateral ties with Pakistan in the field of economy, media and culture and emphasized the holding of regular bilateral political consultations and exchanges between the two countries to encourage business ties. He also appreciated the vision of current dispensation for embarking on reforms and making Pakistan a corruption free society.
The ambassador also wished the Government success in the implementation of reforms agenda for socio-economic uplift of the people of Pakistan.
