ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (APP):Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment at Workplace (FOSPAH) Fauzia Viqar visited the Office of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ombudsperson for Harassment, Ms. Rubab Mehdi, in Peshawar to strengthen coordination between the federal and provincial ombudsperson offices.
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, the visit aimed to enhance cooperation and build a unified framework for protection against harassment, gender equality, and women’s empowerment.
Both ombudspersons reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring accessible and transparent redressal mechanisms under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010.
They discussed improving coordination, data sharing, and referral systems to ensure timely justice, particularly for women in remote and newly merged districts.
Ms. Viqar appreciated the outreach and awareness efforts of the KP Ombudsperson’s Office and stressed the need for federal–provincial collaboration to strengthen institutional accountability and advance Pakistan’s commitments under CEDAW and other international frameworks.
“Strong coordination between our offices ensures that every woman—no matter how remote her area—is heard, protected, and empowered,” Ms. Viqar said.
Both offices agreed to continue cooperation through joint awareness campaigns, capacity-building programs, and reliable data collection to support policy development and improve gender parity indicators.
The press release described the visit as a significant step toward a gender-responsive justice system and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting women’s rights and safety at workplaces.
