Farogh, Mobin discuss draft legislation of LASC

ISLAMABAD, Oct 18 (APP):Minister for Law and Justice, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Farogh Naseem Thursday discussed draft legislation for issuance of Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates (LASC) by NADRA through biometric and other modern devices with chairman NADRA Usman Yousaf Mobin.
Both sides reached the consensus on draft legislation, said a press release issued here.
The Minister was of the view that upon the death of an individual, the legal heirs have to languish in courts for years before they are able to obtain Letters of Administration (for immovable property) and Succession Certificates (for movable property).
This has resulted in a lot of undue burden as the courts are required to issue both.
With the issuance of Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates by NADRA, not only excessive burden on the courts will be reduced but fraud and forgery can also be prevented.
The NADRA Chairman further observed that in any event the courts require NADRA Family Tree before grant of Letter of Administration and Succession Certificate.
Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Maleeka Bukhari said the new legislation will help the female heirs as their right to inherit will also be protected.
The NADRA officials agreed that work on the legislation will be helpful for the legal heirs of the deceased and they will work to expedite the process.
