ISLAMABAD, Nov 14 (APP):The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) highlighted its data-driven work in agriculture, water and food systems at National DataFest 2025 in Islamabad, marking its active role in promoting open and reliable data for national planning.
The FAO Pakistan team joined National DataFest 2025, held on November 11–12 at the Pak China Friendship Centre in Islamabad.

FAO set up an interactive stall where visitors explored a wide range of global and national platforms used for agriculture, water and climate-related planning. These included AQUASTAT, FAOSTAT, WaPOR, IPC, RIMA, the ACWA Portal and the FAO eLearning Academy.
The team used videos, live demonstrations and real-time data displays to show how accurate information supports planning in food security, climate resilience and natural resource management.
The exhibit aimed to show how better data collection, analysis and sharing can guide decision-makers and strengthen the country’s response to current and emerging challenges.
FAO officials also took part in a high-level panel discussion featuring government representatives, development partners and data experts. The conversation focused on the need for open, standardised and trusted data to design informed policies and programmes.
FAO representatives shared how data-driven approaches help shape long-term strategies in agriculture, water management and climate action.
The organisation’s participation reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s development goals and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
FAO continues to work with national institutions to create accessible data systems, build technical capacity and promote collaboration across sectors. These efforts aim to strengthen evidence-based policymaking, improve data use in public planning and enable innovative solutions for food security, environmental management and climate resilience.
National DataFest 2025 served as a platform for learning, collaboration and skill-building, reflecting the growing importance of data in national development and economic growth. Through such initiatives, Pakistan is moving toward stronger data systems that support a stable and food-secure future for its people.
