ISLAMABAD, Oct 19 (APP):A high-level delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) visited the National Institute of Health (NIH), Pakistan, to strengthen multi-sectoral collaboration and enhance disease surveillance under the One Health framework.
The discussions focused on developing the capacity of the disease surveillance workforce through improved training and professional development to facilitate early disease detection and timely outbreak response.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination among human, animal and environmental health sectors to improve surveillance systems and enhance preparedness for emerging health threats.
The collaboration aims to build a more resilient public health system in Pakistan by improving technical capacity, strengthening cross-sectoral information sharing and supporting a coordinated response to potential disease outbreaks.
The One Health approach recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health and promotes joint efforts to prevent, detect and respond to public health risks.
