Fan industry needs govt support: PEFMA chairman

SIALKOT, Dec 08 (APP): Chairman Pakistan Electric Fan Manufacturers Association (PEFMA) Ammad Rafique said that the fan industry was in dire need of government support as it had been facing several difficulties which were badly affecting the fans export.
Addressing a meeting of electrical fans manufacturers held at Gujrat, he said the fan industry was also striving to increase fans export after exploring and capturing new international trade markets and by producing the less-priced world class electrical fans by utilizing its limited resources.

Chairman PEFMA said that the fan industry has been playing a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy. He said that the early amicable solution to this industry’s problems would be helpful in pulling this industry out of prevailing crisis and problems, saying that fan manufacturers have been exporting fans to abroad on very nominal profit.

He demanded early payments of the fan exporters sales tax refund claims and withdrawal of recent increase in duty of electric sheet from 10 percent to 17.5 percent, saying this increase in duty was also hampering the exports of the fans from Pakistan.

He also demanded the government to give the lab certification authority to the PEFMA for promoting the quality material standards in the fan industry to meet the global trade and quality control challenges in this WTO and GSP Plus regime.
