Fake apostille network busted in Islamabad, FIA books 22 including six MOFA officials
ISLAMABAD, Sep 20 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has busted an alleged network involved in the preparation and use of fake apostille stickers and official stamps, booking 22 suspects, including six Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) officials, following a raid in Aabpara.
An FIA official told APP on Sunday that the Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC) Islamabad conducted the raid at several consultancy and courier offices operating from the basement of F&F Plaza, Aabpara, on the basis of information received from reliable sources.
The official said Case No. 48/2026 was registered against 22 suspects under Sections 420, 468, 471 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code, read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
According to the FIA, the investigation identified 16 private suspects linked with Sofi Consultants, Excellent Courier Service (ECS), Leopards Courier Services at F&F Plaza, RAAK Consultancy, Noon Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, GM Consultants and Fair Line Service.
The case also names six MOFA officials, including officials associated with attestation and apostille work, over their alleged role in the network.
The FIA alleged that applicants were charged heavy amounts on the promise of getting apostille and document attestation services expedited, while bribes were allegedly paid to ministry officials.
The agency said fake apostille stickers had allegedly been circulated at different locations across Pakistan, raising concerns about misuse of official documentation and possible losses to the national exchequer.
A concerned court has granted three-day physical remand of the arrested suspects, while Inspector Arslan Masood Khan will investigate the case.
The operation was conducted on the directions of the Director FIA Islamabad Zone under the supervision of the Deputy Director ACC Islamabad. The team included Inspectors Arslan Masood Khan and Hina Rubab Hashmi, Sub-Inspectors Tabish Javed, Farheen Murtaza and Shehryar, ASIs Safeer Kiani, Waqas and Sohail Tariq, and Head Constable Muhammad Uzair.
The FIA Islamabad Zone said action would continue against those involved in corruption and forgery in public institutions, whether they were government officials or private individuals.
