Faisalabad transformed into modern, dynamic business hub: Sanaullah

FAISALABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Provincial Minister for Law Rana  Sanaullah Khan on Sunday said Faisalabad had been transformed into a  modern, dynamic and most vibrant business hub of the country.

Talking to APP, he said almost Rs 40 billion had been allocated  for infrastructure of Faisalabad in addition to provide other basic amenities, including potable water, education and health facilities,  etc.

Rana Sanaullah said the basic focus of the government was on the  provision of potable water and in this connection the Punjab government  in line with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and French government had already completed phase-1 of water supply project with
Rs 10 billion. Similarly, Rs 13 billion had also been allocated for  phase-2 of the water supply project which would ensure 100 per cent  supply of potable water to entire population of the city.

He said sewerage system was also being upgraded and main
sewerage drain was under construction near Sheikhupura Road.

He said the government was also negotiating with foreign funding agencies to treat water affluent of the city. In this connection, Water  and Sanitation Agency (WASA) had proposed three water treatment plants  which would be installed on Pharang and Madhoana drains, he said  and added that the government had also initiated a project for the construction of stormwater channel which will ensure speedy discharge  of rainwater from low-lying areas of the city.

Regarding Expressway, Rana Sanaullah said the six-lane ultra modern  expressway from Sammundri Road to Motorway had been completed with  Rs 7 billion.

Similarly, Jhal Khanuana flyover/underpass has also been completed at the cost of Rs 2.5 billion.

He said Rs 3 billion had also been allocated for Link Road projects which would streamline connectivity of congested areas with main roads.

About health sector, Rana Sanaullah said the Asia’s biggest Children Hospital had been completed costing Rs 5 billion.”This hospital has all specialties while more will be added to provide the latest treatment in  the field of pediatrics,” he said.

He added that Rs 1 billion had also been allocated for immediate upgradation of Allied Hospital, District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, General Hospital Samanabad and General Hospital Ghulam Muhammad Abad.

He said Cardiology Wards of DHQ Hospital and Allied Hospital would  also be reactivated and refurbished to minimize pressure on Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC).

Commenting on new projects, the minister said a flyover from Jhal  Chowk Khannuana to Sleemi Chowk had also been planned which would ensure smooth flow of traffic on this most complicated road intersection of Faisalabad.

He said a new flyover would also be constructed from Tariq Abad exclusively for the traffic heading towards Chak Jhumra Road.

It will  lessen traffic burden on Abdullah Pur Chowk.

Sanaullah Khan said Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif  would formally inaugurate these mega projects very soon while Prime

Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was expected to inaugurate the  Expressway.
